About Us

I cannot really tell you how I got there, but I was looking for a gap in the market, for something that people would really need and which was not readily available, and which would also be in the electrical and electronic fields that I know well. I started by importing rolls of heating mats from overseas which were then cut to sizes and connected to electrical cords. These mats were primarily aimed at the wall to wall carpeting business*. Slow and shy beginnings. Some few years later, the demand for tiles versus carpets started to climb and the increased demand by the public for an undertile heating system
became evident. Nothing of such a nature was available on the market except the antiquited underfloor system which was not suitable for such a job, ie. removing existing carpets and replacing them with ceramic tiles. These underfloor heating cables are very thick and need a 25mm screed covering which increases the floor level and thus not suitable for these "carpet to tile changes".
All these reasons brought me to design a system which could satisfy all these pre-requisites. I located a french company which could supply me the custom made heating resistant wire that I required and then I contracted a local company which was able to coat these wires with Teflon.

After many successful years, we started to expand. I felt that the need to be more independant and have a better grip on the market was imperative, and to achieve this had to go into the manufacturing of the heating wires/cables ourselves. In 1998, an Americain extrusion line was purchased, installed and put into operation by qualified people. This extremely important step allowed us to strenghthen our business and competitiveness, and satisfy the growing market and ultimately to become one of the leaders in this industry today.

Today, we have 26 employees on our payroll. Beside the manufacturing side of underfloor, undertile and undercarpet heating, we are very much involved with the installation of these heaters in homes and townhouse complexes, etc. Our clients extend from private home owners to developers and architects. We also supply numerous tradesmen such as tilers, electricians, plumbers and builders who after a period of training buy the materials and do their installations in their own right. We have a heat~A~room agent in New-Zealand and we are exporting occasionally in Africa and to Europe.

We guarantee our installations for a period of five years. Our after-sales service is omnipresent. Should any heater need to be repaired, we are equipped with state of the art electronic machinery to detect faulty wires, once located it is just a matter of removing a tile or two and repairing the heating wire. These faults are mostly caused by careless workers at the tiling stage or uncoordinated building sites.

Our strength is in a quality product and total commitment towards our clients.
I wish to take this opportunity to thank all our customers who have put their trust in us throughout the years and long may this last.

Manufacturers, distributors and contractors
Long before heat~A~room was established, we were operating as an electrical concern concentrating mainly on electrical contracting and maintenance of houses and factories. Needless to say, a very routine type of work with very little challenge. Although the company was doing extremely well and was very well established, it was time to move on.
